About The Role
Reporting to the Program & Activity Supervisor, you will deliver structured programs that support the wellbeing, engagement and daily functioning of detainees at Villawood Immigration Detention Centre .
You’ll facilitate practical, skills-based sessions such as life skills, wellbeing activities, fitness or cooking programs. Your work will help detainees maintain routine, build confidence and stay connected during periods of uncertainty.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver group programs that promote wellbeing, routine and constructive engagement
- Facilitate practical workshops (e.g. life skills, fitness, cooking, education support)
- Contribute to culturally sensitive, inclusive program design
- Maintain professional boundaries and respond appropriately to challenging behaviours
- Provide feedback to support program evaluation and improvement
- Respond to incidents and emergencies in line with operational procedures
Key Requirements
You're approachable, energetic, and passionate about sharing your skills to help others. You enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds and have a calm, qualified manner in dynamic environments.
- Diploma qualification in sports, recreation, learning and development, ethnic affairs or similar (mandatory)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to de-escalate and manage challenging situations
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in program delivery or facilitation
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Proven COVID vaccination (min. two vaccination)
- Ability to pass an Australian Federal Police Check
