Financial Accountant | Graduate Opportunity

Operating from our Murarrie office, you will oversee the finances of our Insurance Building and Restoration businesses across Queensland and the Northern Territory. You will prepare monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations, manage budgets and forecasts, and monitor project costs, revenue and work in progress. Working closely with operational leaders, you will explain financial performance and provide the information they need to make sound commercial decisions.

This opportunity would suit a graduate accountant with practical experience who is ready to take on broader responsibility. As the key finance contact for managers across the region, you will get to know their projects, investigate changes in performance and provide timely advice as workloads and priorities shift. You will be trusted to manage the day-to-day financial needs of the region and draw on the wider leadership team when more complex matters arise. Over time, this experience will strengthen your confidence and commercial judgement as a finance partner to the businesses you support.

Key responsibilities

Own the monthly accounting and management reporting for the Queensland and Northern Territory businesses, including ledger reviews, journals and balance sheet reconciliations

Analyse project costs, revenue, margins and work in progress with operational managers, identifying variances and matters that need attention

Coordinate annual budgets and monthly rolling forecasts, bringing together input from the businesses and explaining changes in performance

Maintain accurate financial records and prepare regional information for Group reporting, audit and compliance requirements

Review financial processes and controls, recommending practical improvements to the accuracy and usefulness of reporting

About you

A completed degree in accounting or finance, with at least six months' practical experience in an accounting, finance or audit role, including exposure to reconciliations, journals or month-end reporting

Strong Excel skills and the ability to investigate variances, check the accuracy of financial information and learn new accounting systems

The organisation and initiative to manage reporting deadlines, follow up missing information and see tasks through to completion

Clear communication skills and the confidence to discuss financial results with operational managers

Right to work in Australia

Competitive salary package aligned with your experience

Guidance from experienced leaders as you take ownership of a diverse regional portfolio

Genuine opportunities for career progression within a growing national organisation

Access to a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Exclusive employee perks, including health, finance and superannuation offers, plus retail discounts through our partner network
