A large, well-established organisation is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer for an initial three month temporary assignment, with the potential for extension. The position sits within a busy payroll function that supports a significant workforce covered by enterprise agreements.
The Payroll Officer will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of high volume pay runs from start to finish in Chris21 / iChris. The role requires a robust understanding of enterprise agreement and award interpretation, as well as a high level of accuracy and the ability to work independently to strict deadlines.
Key responsibilities
- Process high volume pay runs from start to finish in Chris21 / iChris
- Interpret and apply enterprise agreement and Modern Award conditions
- Validate, enter and maintain payroll and employee data
- Prepare payroll files for bank submission and entry into finance systems
- Process manual payments and adjustments as required
- Prepare payroll reconciliations and reports
- Maintain accurate, confidential and audit-ready payroll records
- Ensure compliance with legislative, enterprise agreement and organisational requirements
Skills and experience
- Demonstrated experience with Chris21 or iChris (essential)
- Proven experience processing high volume pay runs end to end
- Experience interpreting and applying enterprise agreements and Modern Awards
- Sound knowledge of PAYG, superannuation and payroll compliance obligations
- Experience preparing payroll reconciliations and reports
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of discretion with confidential information
