Melbourne

Quantum Commercial Solutions (Vic) Pty Ltd – Coburg North VIC

Quantum Commercial Solutions is a Melbourne-based building maintenance and remedial contractor working across commercial and multi-residential properties throughout Melbourne.

Our maintenance team is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Building Maintenance Technician to join us.

This is not an entry-level role. We’re looking for someone who has been around buildings for a long time, knows how to assess an issue, can think on their feet and has the practical experience to work out the best way forward.

You’ll have a broad understanding of building maintenance and services, be comfortable working independently and take pride in doing the job properly.

About the Role

You’ll be out on the road attending client properties across metropolitan Melbourne, carrying out a mix of reactive maintenance, preventative maintenance, general repairs and minor remedial works.

It’s a varied role and no two days will look exactly the same. Some jobs you’ll be able to complete yourself, while others will require you to identify the issue, work out what’s needed and coordinate the right specialist trade.

You’ll deal directly with clients, property managers, Owners Corporations, tenants and subcontractors, so being professional, approachable and able to communicate clearly is important.

Your work may include:

- General building maintenance and repairs
- Carpentry repairs
- Plaster repairs and patching
- Painting and make‑good works
- Tiling repairs and replacement
- Waterproofing repairs and minor remedial works

- Investigating and rectifying water ingress issues
- Identifying building defects and repair requirements
- Installation and replacement of fixtures, fittings and building components
- External building and common property repairs
- Reactive and preventative maintenance
- Assessing maintenance issues and recommending practical solutions
- Identifying issues relating to electrical, plumbing and mechanical building services
- Coordinating licensed specialist trades when required
- Liaising with clients, property managers, Owners Corporations, tenants and subcontractors
- Other general property maintenance works as they arise

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with solid, hands‑on experience in the building, construction or maintenance industry and a good all‑round understanding of how buildings work.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

- Strong experience in building maintenance, construction, remedial works or a similar hands‑on role
- Broad general building knowledge
- A good working understanding of electrical, plumbing and mechanical building services
- Practical knowledge of waterproofing, tiling, plastering and painting
- Experience identifying building defects and working out practical repair solutions

- The confidence to assess a job and decide what needs to happen next
- Experience working in occupied commercial or multi‑residential properties
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a practical approach
- The ability to work independently and manage your own jobs
- Good communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients
- Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
- Reliability, valuable time management and a professional approach
- A current Victorian Driver Licence
- Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- A good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
- A carpentry or painting background would be looked upon favourably, particularly if you’ve picked up broader maintenance and multi‑trade experience over the years.

The Kind of Person Who Will Suit This Role

You’re the type of person who can walk into a property, look at an issue and start working through what is actually causing it rather than just treating the symptom.

You don’t need to be a licensed electrician, plumber or mechanical technician, but you do need enough experience around those services to understand what you’re looking at, recognise when something isn’t right and know when it’s time to bring in a specialist.

Most importantly, we want someone who takes ownership of their work, communicates well and understands that when you’re working in someone’s building, how you deal with the client matters just as much as the quality of the repair.
