Your Position
As our Children’s and Youth Service’s Librarian, you will
support Council's vision and leadership in the delivery of high quality
collections, services and programmes for children and young adults.
You will engage and partner with relevant Council
departments as well as local community organisations to broaden capacity and
deliver enhanced programmes that are vibrant and relevant to the needs of our
children and young people. The role will participate in the Library and
Community Hub Customer Care Roster.
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to
- Develop and
deliver high-quality customer-focused services, programs and collections
for children and young adults, including early literacy programs, to meet
the education, informational, cultural and recreational needs of the
Burwood community.
- Collaborate
with the Library and Community Hub team to ensure delivery of high-quality
customer experiences through outstanding customer service, information and
advice regarding the Burwood Library and Community Hub services, programs,
activities and events.
To be successful in this role, you will have
- Passionate
about supporting children and young people, with knowledge of current
trends, issues, and best practice in library services.
- Demonstrated
experience in developing and managing children's and young adult library
collections.
- Experience
planning, coordinating, and delivering engaging library programs and
activities for children and young people.
- Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive
relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Highly
developed organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing
priorities and meet deadlines.
- Solid
critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to make informed
decisions and solve problems effectively.
- Degree
Qualification in Library and Information Studies or close to completing
your degree, recognised by ALIA (must be expected to complete studies by end of 2026).
Key Requirements
- A
current Working with Children Check clearance
- Willingness
to complete a pre-employment health assessment.
- Willingness
to obtain a national police check
- Health
& Well-being initiatives (flu vaccinations, skin checks).
- Access
to Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
