Supervisor Positions - Vegetable Farming
Mason Bros Vegetable Farms - Werribee South VIC
Mason Bros Vegetable Farms , located in Werribee South, 30 minutes West of Melbourne, is an industry leader in growing and supplying fresh cut vegetables throughout Australia.
Two supervisor level positions available for our farming operations including:
This position assists with coordinating and supervising farm teams to meet daily planting and harvesting targets and to ensure quality standards of vegetable produce are achieved.
This position has practical hands-on applications as well as assisting with coordination and supervision across several of our farm's operations including planting, growing and harvesting.
Duties include:
- Undertake planting, spraying, watering, fertigation and harvest programs
- Carryout programs to achieve maximize harvest yields
- Guiding, coordinating and supervising farm workers and farm site activities
- Hands on operation of farm machinery including tractors, sprayers and harvesters
- Daily pre-operational check of farm machinery and equipment
- Preparation and application of chemicals for control of pests, weeds, and diseases
- Storage, transportation and calibration of chemicals and spraying equipment
- Data inputs into farm management systems and farm activity reports
- Monitor environmental conditions ensure it is suitable for operations and tasks
- Housekeeping of equipment and machinery, cleaning programs and basic maintenance
- Regular communication and coordination with other supervisors & management
- Complete data inputs into farm management system and daily reporting activities
- Promote and maintain high standards of safety practices
Skills, experience and qualifications:
- Previous experience in vegetable (horticulture) farming, at a supervisory level
- Strong knowledge of vegetable planting, growing and harvesting practices
- Certificate III qualification in Horticulture / Agriculture or equivalent
- Hold a current local driver's license (essential), HR truck license (desirable)
- Experienced operating farm machinery (i.e. tractors, harvesters, planters, etc.)
- Excellent organizational and supervisory skills
- Current agricultural chemical user permit - ACUP (essential)
- Versatile to undertake a variety of tasks & able to work extra hours during peak seasons
- Competent user of IT technology, mobile devices and GPS
We offer:
- full-time employment with a competitive wage from $75,000 per annum (or equivalent hourly rate) + super commensurate with your experience and qualifications.
