About the Role
We’re seeking a passionate and customer-focusedPharmacy Assistant/Pharmacy Technicianto join our friendly and collaborative team atSlade Pharmacy, Victoria Parade, located withinEpworth Freemasons HospitalinEast Melbourne. This is a permanent full-time opportunity offering a varied mix of hospital, retail and patient-facing pharmacy responsibilities in a dynamic healthcare setting.
In this role, you'll work closely with our Pharmacist-in-Charge in a small, tight-knit team to deliver high-quality pharmacy services across maternity, IVF, and day procedure units. You'll be involved in dispensing medications, managing ward stock, supporting patient discharges, and providing personalised service to patients, carers, and hospital staff.
This is a true all-rounder position that supports all areas of the pharmacy. On any given day, you may move between hospital dispensing, customer service, front shop responsibilities, stock management, IVF support and maternity services.
This role will suit someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, variety in their work and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Our pharmacy features a beautiful front-of-shop open to the public and is easily accessible via public transport. While serving our walk-in customers and patients will be a high priority, you'll also receive hands-on training and ongoing support to help you grow your skills across hospital pharmacy services, compounding and other specialised areas of the business. Pharmacy Assistants looking to progress into a technician role are strongly encouraged to apply.
This role will suit someone looking for a varied and hands-on pharmacy position, with the opportunity to contribute across multiple areas of the business while developing their skills in a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with receiving, dispensing and supply of medications for hospital inpatients and outpatients under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Support daily documentation of medication dispensing and patient visits
- Assist in processing and maintaining imprest levels, and managing hospital ward stock
- Reconcile and manage prescriptions and patient medication discharge profiles
- Provide support to patients, carers and hospital staff and ensure walk in customers are prioritised
- Collaborate with pharmacy staff, nurses, and community health workers to support treatment adherence.
- Assist with S2/S3 sales and retail ordering and reconciliation
- Maintain the retail space, including merchandising, stock ordering, checking expiries, processing invoices and liaising with supplier representatives
- Support IVF and Maternity patients with specific product information, e.g. IVF kits, breast pumps, maternity garments.
- Process PBS claims and assist in producing medication profiles to hospital patients on discharge
- Confidently complete administrative and record keeping duties
- Assist with patient account enquiries
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the dispensing/pharmacy area.
About You

Key Requirements
- Previous experience in an Australian community or hospital pharmacy (essential)
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and work across a variety of tasks
- Familiarity with dispensing medication and FRED Dispense (preferred)
- Understanding of PBS and S2/S3 medications (preferred)
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively and work both independently and as part of a team
