About the role
We are seeking a Branch Assistant/Trade Specialist to join our team at our Shepparton VIC location. This is a full‑time position that plays a vital role in supporting our customers with product knowledge, technical advice, and exceptional service. As a Trade Specialist, you will be the key point of contact for tradespersons and building professionals, helping them find the right materials and solutions for their projects. This position is essential to maintaining Tradelink's reputation for excellence in the building trades industry and directly contributes to customer satisfaction and business growth.
Key responsibilities
Provide expert product knowledge and recommendations to trade customers across a range of building materials and supplies
Assist customers in selecting appropriate materials for their specific projects and requirements
Process customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely delivery and correct specifications
Build and maintain strong relationships with regular customers and develop new business opportunities
Maintain knowledge of product inventory, availability, pricing, and promotions
Provide technical advice and support on product applications and building code compliance
Respond to customer enquiries via phone, email, and in‑person with professionalism and efficiency
Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure orders are fulfilled correctly and on schedule
Contribute to a safe and well‑organised workplace environment
What we're looking for
Proven experience working in the building trades, construction industry, or a related field
Strong knowledge of building materials, plumbing industry preferred
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with diverse customers
Ability to provide technical advice and solve customer problems effectively
Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail
Proficiency with computer systems and point‑of‑sale software
Physical capability to handle and move building materials safely
Reliability and a commitment to providing consistent, high‑quality service
A current driving licence
Forklift and truck licence would be an advantage
