FairWind are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Payroll Specialist join our Finance team. This role is critical in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll operations across multiple projects and rosters throughout Australia and the wider APAC region.

As the ideal candidate will be detail oriented, pro‑active and have a solid background in payroll management, a passion for accuracy, and the ability to navigate complex employment structures typical of large construction and renewables projects.

Based in our office in Banyo, with a flexible working arrangement of three days in the office and two days working from home. You will be working within our very friendly and collaborative Finance team and welcomed by the greater business group.

Responsibilities

- End‑to‑end processing of weekly and monthly payrolls
- Maintain accuracy in employee records, including current starters, terminations, and pay variations
- Ensure compliance with Fair Work, ATO, and Superannuation obligations
- Prepare and lodge STP and reconcile
- Prepare and submit LSL, redundancy provisions and other ad hoc entitilements/deductions
- Assist the finance team providing payroll reports, cost allocations
- Manage payroll queries promptly, maintaining high employee satisfaction
- Generate detailed payroll reports for management and project leads




- Support audits by providing accurate payroll and compliance documentation
- Maintain awareness of current legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements (including construction and renewable energy classifications)
- Support month‑end and year‑end payroll reconciliations
- System and process improvements

About You

As the successful candidate you will have relevant experience in;

- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ plus experience in payroll processing
- Experience within construction or renewables industries preferred but not essential
- Solid proficiency in Employment Hero and with intermediate Excel skills
- Keen understanding of Australian payroll legislation, Fair Work provisions and superannuation compliance
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and accuracy under tight deadlines
- Experience with multi‑site or project‑based rosters highly regarded
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
- Calm under pressure and able to respond effectively to urgent requirements
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team setting
