Vineyard Hand – Full-Time

Join the team at one of Australia’s most historic wineries

Tahbilk Estate is seeking an experienced and motivated Vineyard Hand to join our vineyard team on a full-time basis.

Located in Victoria’s beautiful Goulburn Valley, Tahbilk is a family-owned winery with a proud history spanning five generations. Our vineyards are at the heart of what we do, and we are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working outdoors and is committed to producing high-quality grapes.

About the Role

Reporting to the Vineyard Operations Manager , you will be responsible for a broad range of vineyard operations throughout the growing season and vintage.

This is a hands on role suited to someone with vineyard experience who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

- General vineyard operations and maintenance
- Vineyard establishment, including installing posts, trellis wires, dripper tube and planting and training young vines
- Hand and mechanical pruning
- Trellis maintenance, post repairs and wire repairs
- Fencing and environmental works
- Irrigation repairs, maintenance and operation
- Operating tractors and vineyard machinery
- Discing, seeding, spraying, slashing and flail mowing
- Cane trimming, sweeping and general vineyard maintenance
- Fertilising and other tractor operations
- Grape harvesting and towing grape bins
- Pre-pruning and other seasonal vineyard activities
- Operating ATVs for vineyard operations




- Operating electric and diesel irrigation pumps
- Operating irrigation systems and electronic controllers
- Assisting with environmental and farm works, including fencing and tree establishment

Vintage & Working Hours

Vintage is an important and busy time of year at Tahbilk. During vintage, employees may be required to work up to 12 hours per day, 6 days per week , with some extended periods of work depending on operational requirements.

Day and night shifts may be required during vintage.

Outside of vintage, normal working hours are 7.00 am to 3.30 pm, Monday to Friday .

Due to the nature of vintage, teamwork, reliability and the ability to work positively with others are essential.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

- Has previous vineyard or agricultural experience
- Has experience operating tractors and vineyard machinery
- Can safely operate an ATV, motorbike and other farm equipment
- Has a basic understanding of viticulture and vineyard operations
- Has a strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Can follow chemical handling procedures and manufacturer requirements
- Is reliable, hardworking and takes pride in their work




- Can work independently while also being a positive and cooperative team member
- Is willing to learn and adapt to new equipment, technology and ways of working
- Communicates effectively with colleagues and managers
