About the role

We are expanding our family law department and are looking for an experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our team. Our department is led by an Accredited Family Law Specialist and acts on a broad range of property and parenting matters, many of them complex. You will work closely with our lawyers and be trusted with the day-to-day progress of files.

This is a full time role based in our Mermaid Beach office.

Key responsibilities

- Drafting family law documents including Initiating Applications, Responses, Financial Statements, Affidavits and Consent Orders, Financial Agreements, Child Support Agreements
- Preparing and collating financial disclosure, briefs to counsel and subpoenas
- Filing documents through the Commonwealth Courts Portal and managing court deadlines
- Preparing correspondence and liaising with clients, the other side, counsel, experts and the courts
- Opening, managing, closing and archiving files in our practice management system
- Diary management and coordinating appointments and meetings
- Trust receipting and end of month billing
- Supporting the broader team with administrative tasks as required





About you

- At least 3 years' experience as a family law paralegal (essential)
- Working knowledge of Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia procedure
- Meticulous attention to detail and excellent written communication
- A calm, empathetic and discreet approach with clients going through a difficult time
- Well presented with an excellent phone manner
- The ability to use your initiative, prioritise your workload and meet strict deadlines
- Accurate typing and strong Microsoft Office skills
- Experience with LEAP is highly regarded but not essential
