The Finance Officer provides high-quality, reliable financial administration and accounting support to the Armajun Aboriginal Health Service. Operating under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the role is responsible for processing accounts payable/receivable, assisting with fortnightly payroll, performing bank reconciliations, and supporting month-end financial reporting. This position contributes directly to maintaining strong financial governance in support of healthcare delivery across the local Aboriginal community.
Key responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices, match purchase orders, batch payments, and maintain vendor records
- Generate debtor invoices and monitor outstanding receivables
- Assist with fortnightly payroll processing, staff timesheet verification, leave record updates, and salary packaging administration support
- Perform regular bank reconciliations, process general ledger entries, manage petty cash acquittals, and resolve account discrepancies promptly
- Assist the CFO with month-end and year-end procedures, audit preparation, financial record archiving, and statutory compliance tracking
- Provide general administrative support within the finance team, respond to finance inquiries, and execute other duties as directed by the CFO
About you
- High attention to detail and accuracy in processing financial transactions, data entry,
and record-keeping
- Good oral and written communication skills with strong time management and organisational abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a small team environment
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain), plus full right to work in Australia
- Certificate II or higher in Business, Administration, Accounting, or Finance (desirable)
- Experience with payroll systems and salary packaging administration (desirable)
- Understanding of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) and cultural safety, with relevant finance/payroll experience in a community-controlled or NFP setting (desirable)
