About the work unit / facility
The Townsville University Hospital Emergency Department (ED) provides care to approximately 80,000 patients each year. Patients present with a wide range of conditions, and treatment priorities are determined according to the triage category assigned on arrival.
The ED has established patient flow models, including Fast Track, Paediatrics, Step Down and Streaming areas. These initiatives have proven highly successful in managing daily patient presentations. The department also operates a 16-bed Short Stay Unit to support timely patient assessment, treatment and disposition.

Competitive salary and benefits:
We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.
- Base salary range: $57.76 - $61.85 p.h.
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading

About your opportunity
In this role, you will provide clinical expertise, support and education to nursing staff within the unit, promoting best practice and high-quality patient care for people of all ages and cultural backgrounds while recognising the importance of individuals and their families.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position and registration with AHPRA.
- Must be able to obtain and then maintain an annual competency in Advanced Life Support.
- Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in an on-call roster.
Highly desirable
- Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field; such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
- Extensive experience within an Emergency Department.
