We are seeking an Inpatient Specialist Psychiatrist for a locum placement within a major metropolitan and outer-regional health network in South Penrith, NSW. This contract runs from 21 September to 4 October 2026. You will join a large tertiary referral and teaching network serving Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, with exposure to a wide range of presentations, strong multidisciplinary support and access to teaching, training and research opportunities.
- Provide specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment for inpatients with acute and complex mental health presentations
- Lead clinical decision making and risk assessment within the inpatient setting
- Participate in ward rounds, case reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings
- Provide clinical guidance and supervision to junior medical staff
- Collaborate with nursing, allied health and community mental health teams
- Contribute to treatment planning, discharge planning and coordination of ongoing care
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

About You:
- AHPRA registered Medical Practitioner with specialist registration in Psychiatry
- Experience in inpatient adult psychiatry
- Confident managing a broad range of acute and complex mental health presentations
- Works effectively both autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
- Available for the full contract period
- Eligible to work in Australia
