Beaufort & Skipton Health Service is seeking an accomplished and values-driven Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation’s next chapter. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is a highly visible and influential executive role with responsibility for implementing the strategic direction of the health service and ensuring alignment with the organisation’s values, vision and mission.
We are a small rural health service with campuses at Beaufort and Skipton in Western Victoria. The organisation delivers a broad and integrated service profile, including acute care, 24-hour urgent care at each campus, residential aged care, primary and community health programs, support at home services, district nursing and medical practice at Skipton and access to allied health and specialist services.
The opportunity
This is a highly visible and an influential executive role with responsibility for organisational performance, culture, quality, safety and sustainability. Working in partnership with the Board, Executive team, workforce, community and regional stakeholders, the CEO will translate strategy into measurable outcomes and strengthen BSHS’s contribution to the Grampians Local Health Service Network.
Your responsibilities
Implement strategic, values-based leadership across two campuses and a diverse service portfolio.
Maintain strong clinical and corporate governance, with clear oversight of quality, safety, risk and regulatory compliance.
Foster a just, open and accountable culture in which people are supported to speak up, learn and improve.
Ensure sound financial stewardship, effective resource allocation and sustainable organisational performance.
Strengthen consumer participation and ensure community perspectives inform planning, service delivery and improvement.
Build trusted relationships with the Board, workforce, community, government, health partners, universities and funding bodies.
Identify service gaps, pursue appropriate opportunities and lead innovation and business development aligned with community need.
Advance collaboration across the Grampians Local Health Service Network to improve outcomes and reduce duplication.
About you
You will be a credible executive leader with the judgement, resilience and relationship capability to lead a complex, community-facing health service.
You will combine strategic thinking with operational discipline and demonstrate a genuine commitment to rural communities, consumer-centred care and workforce culture.
CEO or senior executive leadership experience, supported by contemporary knowledge of public hospitals, residential aged care, primary health and community services.
Relevant tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in a clinical discipline, health management or a related field, together with evidence of continuing professional development.
A strong record of developing and implementing strategic, service and operational plans.
Demonstrated experience working effectively with a Board of Directors and providing clear, timely and well-reasoned advice.
Highly developed knowledge of clinical governance, quality, evaluation, risk management and public sector accountability.
You will have a deep commitment to quality, safety and performance.
Proven workforce leadership, including the ability to engage, influence and empower people while maintaining accountability for agreed outcomes.
Robust financial and business capability, including an understanding of State and Commonwealth funding environments.
Outstanding communication, partnership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to represent BSHS locally, regionally and more broadly.
Make a direct and visible contribution to the health and wellbeing of rural communities.
Lead an integrated service model spanning hospital, aged care, primary, community and home-based care.
Work closely with an engaged and committed Board, experienced leaders, dedicated staff and community partners.
Shape future services and strengthen the organisation’s strategic position within the regional health system.
Lead an organisation grounded in Teamwork, Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.
