Alpha Car Finance

Brisbane City

Hands-on leadership of an integrated, privately owned vehicle group

We're a privately owned Brisbane group running a connected vehicle supply chain: fleet, car hire, used-vehicle retail and consumer vehicle finance, through a licensed credit provider. We have strong foundations, our own technology, a growing investment in automation, and an owner committed to handing day-to-day leadership to a professional CEO. We need a practical business operator who works closely with the team and turns plans into commercial results.

The role

Reporting to the Founder, you'll take full accountability for the group's commercial performance and lead its business leaders day to day. The General Manager of Finance & Retail and the Head of Fleet report to you, and you'll oversee our car hire partner business through governance and commercial agreements. This is a hands-on role: you'll work directly with the team, understand the numbers and help resolve operational issues alongside the business leaders.

Your purpose is to run the group professionally, profitably and independently of the Founder. You will set direction and follow through on delivery, with a close focus on cash flow, margins, costs and the performance of each business.

The businesses you will lead

Finance & Retail

Consumer vehicle finance through our licensed credit provider and used-vehicle retail. Led day to day by the General Manager of Finance & Retail.

Fleet

Our vehicle fleet business, which buys, finances, deploys and disposes of vehicles across the group. Led day to day by the Head of Fleet. You'll set direction on fleet size and mix, utilisation, the asset cycle from purchase to disposal, vehicle funding, and maintenance and running costs.

Car Hire

A car hire business run day to day by an operating partner, supplied by our fleet. You'll oversee it on the group's behalf: performance reporting and KPIs, the commercial and supply agreements, utilisation and rate performance, and how it feeds vehicles into retail and finance.

What success looks like

- A high-quality lending portfolio, with arrears, losses and return on book within agreed limits
- Growth in our capital-light broking business
- Stronger margin across the whole chain: vehicle sourcing, utilisation, stock turn and finance attached at sale
- Higher fleet utilisation and better returns on each vehicle through hire, retail and disposal
- A capable leadership team, transparent accountability and regular reporting that allow the group to operate without day-to-day involvement from the Founder

Key responsibilities

Lead, develop and hold the group's business leaders accountable through clear KPIs, budgets and regular reporting, stepping in to help resolve issues when needed

Manage the handoffs between businesses: vehicle supply, the fleet cycle and disposal, retail performance and finance referrals

Set fleet strategy with the Head of Fleet: fleet size and mix, utilisation, funding and the timing of disposals

Oversee the car hire partner: monthly performance reviews, KPIs, supply and commercial agreements, and contract compliance

Review trading results, cash flow, margins and costs with business leaders and the Group CFO; identify underperformance early and follow through on corrective action

Strengthen governance, risk and compliance across the group, working within the credit and compliance framework set by the licence holder

Drive automation and AI where they measurably improve efficiency, customer experience or credit outcomes

Work with the Group CFO to plan the group's growth path, budgets, cash flow, profitability targets and funding,

translating these into practical operating priorities and measurable results

Build and manage relationships with funders and banking partners alongside the Group CFO

Assess growth opportunities, including partnerships and acquisitions, and put recommendations to the Founder

Develop the next generation of leadership within a family-owned business

About you

You're an experienced CEO, Managing Director, COO or senior business leader who has run a small to mid-sized business with full P&L; responsibility. You are commercially driven and comfortable working close to the numbers, the people and day-to-day operations. You bring:

Experience in the motor vehicle sector: vehicle finance, fleet management, car rental or dealer retail

An understanding of fleet economics: utilisation, depreciation, asset funding and remarketing

A working understanding of responsible lending obligations (NCCP) and regulatory expectations

A track record of improving portfolio quality and profitability, not just volume

Strong commercial and financial skills, with a proven record of managing P&L;, cash flow, margins and costs and delivering measurable improvements

Experience working with funders, banks or capital partners

A practical leadership style: willing to get into financial and operational detail, work directly with the team and help solve problems, while holding leaders accountable for delivery

Experience in a privately owned or family-owned business, making practical decisions with the people and resources available and respecting clear lines between owners and management

What's on offer

Short-term incentive linked to portfolio quality and group performance, plus a long-term incentive

A genuine CEO role with responsibility for commercial results, and an owner committed to stepping back from operations

The opportunity to improve day-to-day performance and build the long-term value of an established, privately owned business group
