The team at Carejobz Perioperative Specialists are recruiting for a hospital in Brisbane. We are looking for a Clinical Nurse Manager to lead the Emergency Department. The role suits a Registered Nurse with recent emergency and leadership experience who is ready to take responsibility for a department's people, service and budget. Experienced critical care (ICU or HDU) and PACU managers with current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification will also be considered.

This private hospital in Brisbane has a busy emergency department with a strong focus on person-centred care.

The Role

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Nursing, you will lead the emergency department nursing team. You will be accountable for clinical standards, staffing and the department's budget. You will stay clinical on the floor in the mornings, with time off the floor for management. Hours are Monday to Friday, day hours, with a 7:00am start.

In this role, you will:

- Provide clinical leadership and oversight to the emergency team, working on the floor until around 11am, then moving to management duties and stepping back in when the team needs you
- Lead workforce planning and rostering to ensure safe staffing numbers and the right skill mix
- Manage the department's budget, labour hours and KPIs across quality, people and finance
- Support, develop and performance-manage staff to build a high-performing team
- Lead quality, safety and accreditation work, including the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
- Work closely with the ED medical director, and build strong relationships with doctors, patients, families and other stakeholders
- Lead change and keep the culture strong

What You Will Bring





- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, with no restrictions
- A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
- Recent and relevant emergency department experience, or experience as a critical care (ICU or HDU) or PACU manager
- Experience leading shifts and preparing rosters
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills, including recruitment, performance management and difficult conversations
- Experience managing budgets and labour hours
- An understanding of accreditation and the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
- Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
- Full Australian working rights (Current Zealand candidates welcome), or, for exceptional candidates, eligibility for sponsorship
