About the Role
As Principal Advisor, you will provide high-quality strategic and operational advice, executive coordination and support to enable effective leadership and informed decision-making across Parks Victoria's Greater Melbourne Region.
Reporting to the Regional Director, Greater Melbourne, you will coordinate priority matters, prepare executive briefings and advice, support governance and performance oversight, and drive projects and service improvements aligned with organisational priorities. You will work closely with executives, managers and teams across the organisation to strengthen regional performance, accountability and place-based delivery.
You will also help establish effective systems for managing regional priorities, decisions and actions, while using data, evaluation and reporting to support informed decision-making. The role provides an opportunity to contribute to Parks Victoria's organisational transformation and focus on effective delivery across a complex metropolitan environment.
About the Team
The Greater Melbourne Region stretches from Whittlesea to the Mornington Peninsula and from Gembrook to Werribee, encompassing more than 145,000 hectares of parks and reserves. It operates within a complex stakeholder environment and works with Traditional Owners, government agencies, businesses, community groups and other organisations.
As Principal Advisor,
you will work closely with the Regional Director and regional leadership to:
- Provide timely, considered and evidence-based strategic and operational advice.
- Coordinate priorities, actions, executive briefings and reporting.
- Strengthen governance, performance, accountability and operational efficiency.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Support engagement with Traditional Owners and Registered Aboriginal Parties.
- Drive continuous improvement and help embed effective recent ways of working.
We're Looking for Someone With:
- Demonstrated senior advisory or leadership experience providing strategic and operational advice, leading complex improvement init iatives and supporting senior executives within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in public administration, public policy, business, environmental management or a related field are highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver measurable outcomes in operational efficiency, service quality, and staff engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with senior staff and managers, and to build organisational capability and resilience.
- Ability to foster collaboration, interdependence and high performance across a geographically dispersed region and the broader organisation.
