Senior Infrastructure Engineer – F5 Specialist Location: Canberra, ACT
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – initial 6 weeks onsite
Contract: 12 months + extensions up to 24 months
Start: January 2027
Clearance: NV1 required prior to commencement
Hours: Up to 80 hours per fortnight
About the Role We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure / Network Engineer with strong F5 expertise to join a large Australian Government environment.
You will be responsible for the engineering, administration, optimisation and operational support of enterprise F5 BIG-IP platforms , including LTM, DNS/GTM and APM .
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and engineer enterprise F5 BIG-IP platforms.
- Design and maintain virtual servers, pools, monitors, SSL/TLS profiles, iRules and traffic policies.
- Troubleshoot complex F5, application and network issues, including packet captures and traffic analysis.
- Lead F5 upgrades, vulnerability remediation, hardware refresh and lifecycle activities.
- Support data centre networking, resilience, disaster recovery and change activities.
- Work with vendors and internal technical teams.
- Develop technical documentation and provide knowledge transfer and mentoring.
- Solid enterprise-level F5 BIG-IP experience, particularly LTM, DNS/GTM and APM .
- Advanced troubleshooting across F5, application and network layers.
- Strong knowledge of routing, switching, load balancing, firewalls and data centre networks .
- High-level UNIX/Linux administration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with SSL/TLS, packet analysis, log analysis and root cause investigation.
- Strong communication, documentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Python, Terraform or Ansible
- Australian Government or large enterprise experience
- F5, Cisco, Linux or Cyber Security certifications

Eligibility
