A market-leading provider of vehicle rental and leasing services is seeking an experienced National Credit Manager to join its Australian operations. About the Role
In the initial phase, the role will be highly hands-on, with a focus on strengthening credit collection processes, leading and developing the credit team, managing risk exposures and collaborating with stakeholders across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the credit team through a period of growth, contributing to the development of systems, processes and policies
- Hold ultimate accountability for team performance, culture, annual reviews and professional development
- Work closely with Credit Controllers on escalation processes and the monitoring of accounts of concern
- Conduct annual credit reviews for larger customers
- Collaborate with the Credit Risk Manager on customer account applications, making daily decisions on appropriate account structures
- Prepare monthly management and Board reporting on credit performance,
together with weekly reporting to branches and the sales team
- Visit branches to build relationships and strengthen understanding of credit processes
- Develop credit strategies to improve risk exposure and cashflow, applying a Lean approach to process efficiency
- Where skills permit, contribute to commercial financial and credit reviews of lease transactions and facilities
Skills and Experience
- Minimum five years' credit experience, spanning both collections and the management of accounts of concern
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing a credit team
- Tertiary financial qualification and/or substantial financial experience gained in a comparable role
- Lending experience (highly regarded but not essential)
- Sound judgement, with the ability to balance a collaborative approach and the confidence to hold a position when warranted
- Robust financial and commercial acumen, with the ability to analyse information and identify underlying issues
- Composure and credibility in difficult or assertive customer conversations
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to earn the trust of stakeholders across the business
- Proficiency in Excel and systems, and a commitment to improving, streamlining and automating processes
- Flexibility, strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail
