Assistant Director, OECD Data and International Analysis
As an Assistant Director in the Performance Analysis team, you will lead the department's work supporting Australia's participation in international education statistics programs led by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), UNESCO and Eurostat. You will oversee Australia's contribution to the UNESCO-OECD-Eurostat education data collection and the OECD's Indicators of Education Systems program, which underpin the annual Education at a Glance publication.
Working with Commonwealth agencies, international organisations and education sector stakeholders, you will coordinate complex education data collections, undertake data validation and analysis, and provide technical advice on international education statistics. You will lead the delivery of high-quality international data submissions and provide analysis and insights that support Australia's international reporting obligations, benchmarking activities and departmental priorities.

In this role, your responsibilities will include the following:
- Leading Australia's participation in the UNESCO-OECD-Eurostat education data collection and other OECD education data collections.
- Managing a small team responsible for international education data collection, validation, analysis and reporting.
- Leading complex data validation, quality assurance and analytical activities to support international reporting and benchmarking.
- Providing analysis, briefings and technical advice on international education statistics, indicators and trends.
- Building and maintaining relationships with Commonwealth agencies, data custodians and international stakeholders to support the delivery of high-quality data and reporting.
- Supporting Australia's participation in OECD education data networks and meetings, including the preparation of briefs, data, analysis and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Driving continuous improvement in data quality, analytical capability and reporting processes.
Eligibility
Employment at the Department of Education is subject to conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999 including:
- Citizenship: Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency delegate has agreed, in writing.
- Security Clearance: This is a designated security assessed position. The successful candidate will have the ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
