Cutlers The Law Firm
Central Coast Council
Senior Property & Conveyancing Solicitor
Commencement: January 2027, with flexibility around the exact start date for the right candidate
Cutlers The Law Firm is an established law practice located at The Entrance on the NSW Central Coast.
We are looking for an experienced Property and Conveyancing Solicitor to join our team and take primary responsibility for leading the firm's property and conveyancing practice.
This is a senior role for a solicitor who is comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy, managing their own files and clients, supervising support staff, and taking ownership of the day-to-day operation of a busy property practice.
The successful candidate will have genuine scope to shape how the property practice operates, including its systems, workflows and client service.
The role
You will have primary responsibility for the firm's property and conveyancing work, including:
residential purchases and sales;
off-the-plan and development-related conveyancing;
subdivisions and other property development work;
commercial property transactions;
leases and related property matters;
reviewing, drafting and advising on contracts and other property documents;
liaising directly with clients, agents, banks, brokers, developers and other solicitors;
supervising and working with conveyancing and administrative support staff;
managing workflows, deadlines and file progression across the property practice; and
helping to refine and improve the firm's property systems and procedures.
There is an established flow of property work, so this is not a role where you will be expected to build a practice from nothing.
The intention is for the successful candidate to lead the property and conveyancing practice with substantial autonomy, rather than simply assisting another solicitor who retains day-to-day control of the area.
The firm's broader practice includes wills and estate planning, deceased estates, contested estates and family provision claims, family law, notarial work, and selected commercial and civil matters.
About you
We would particularly like to hear from you if you:
are admitted as an Australian legal practitioner and hold, or are eligible to hold, a NSW practising certificate;
have strong experience in NSW conveyancing and property law;
are confident managing files from initial instructions through to completion;
are comfortable taking primary responsibility for a practice area;
have strong drafting, communication and client-management skills;
are commercially minded and able to exercise sound judgment independently;
are organised and able to manage competing deadlines and workflows;
are comfortable supervising or working closely with support staff; and
enjoy working as part of a small, collaborative team.
Experience with LEAP and InfoTrack would be highly regarded, but is not essential.
Familiarity with the Firm's other areas of practice would also be an advantage, although this is not essential.
We are open to candidates at different levels of seniority, although the successful applicant will need to be capable of operating with a significant degree of independence. The right person may already be leading a property practice or may be ready to step into that level of responsibility.
What we offer
Leadership of an established property and conveyancing practice.
An existing client and referral base.
Significant autonomy over your files and day-to-day practice.
The opportunity to shape systems, workflows and the future direction of the property practice.
Direct access to clients and interesting property work.
Support from experienced administrative staff.
A friendly, practical and collaborative working setting.
Applications will be treated confidentially.
