About the Role

Mildura Base Public Hospital is seeking a motivated Psychiatry Registrar to join our Mental Health and Wellbeing Services (MHWS) team.

You will work under the supervision of our Consultant Psychiatrists and alongside a committed multidisciplinary team. Together you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based and recovery-focused care to consumers across inpatient, outpatient and community settings, including our recently expanded Youth and Child Mental Health service. You will complete comprehensive psychiatric assessments and mental state examinations, develop multidisciplinary management plans, and prescribe and review treatment under consultant supervision. You will also manage co-occurring physical health conditions through appropriate organic workup.

You will help the service meet its obligations under the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 (Vic). This includes preparing tribunal reports, attending Mental Health Tribunal hearings and completing seclusion checks. The role also includes participation in the ECT roster, working closely with families and carers, and teaching and supervising medical students and junior medical staff.

The role is rostered Monday to Friday, with participation in an on-call roster.

It offers broad clinical exposure, real responsibility and strong support for your progression through RANZCP training.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Current registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia (via AHPRA).

- An MBBS (or equivalent) and completion of at least two postgraduate years.

- Experience in psychiatry and active progress towards Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP).

- Excellent clinical skills and judgement, including sound assessment, diagnostic and decision-making skills.

- Excellent communication, teamwork, time management and problem-solving skills in a clinical setting.

- A demonstrated commitment to patient safety, risk management and quality improvement.

- The ability to supervise, teach and support junior medical staff and medical students.

- A commitment to person-centred, recovery-oriented care and ongoing career development.

- A Medicare Provider Number (for Mildura) and Prescriber Number, or eligibility to obtain them.

- A current Victorian driver's licence.
