MIGAS Apprentices and Trainees – Ipswich QLD
Partnered with our host, Bradken , we are looking for a Boilermaker Apprentice who would liketo start their career in a thriving industry.
Bradken has been in the foundry business for over a century, specialising in the innovative design and manufacture of cast and fabricated iron and steel products for the mining and resources sector. It expertly serves the rail and transit, energy, structural and industrial casting, and defence markets.
From small equipment pins to dragline buckets, Bradken manufactures products from500 grams to more than 25 tonnes.
Undertaking this four-year apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to become a qualified tradesperson in the metal fabrication field and earn your MEM31925 Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking) qualification.
As a Boilermaker Apprentice, you will work under the guidance of qualified tradespeople and:
- Assist with fabrication, assembly, repairs, and construction of metal and steel products.
- Perform grinding, welding, thermal cutting, and fitting tasks
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, and equipment
- Maintain a clean and organised work area
- Follow WHS requirements, company policies, and procedures
- Work effectively with tradespeople and the wider team
This is a workshop-based position located in Ipswich, working Monday to Friday, 6:30 am to 2:30 pm
- Full time 4-year contract including paid annual and personal leave
- Above award wages
- The chance to learn from experienced tradespeople
- Access to personalised 1:1 mentoring
- Opportunity to access Government subsidy payments up to $2,500 during the apprenticeship

About You
We are looking for a dedicated individual with a keen interest in boilermaking who is excited to develop their skills through hands-on experience in the field.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have demonstrated mechanical aptitude and interest in fabrication and welding
- Be fit and comfortable working in a hot environment, particularly during the summer months
- Be reliable, punctual
- Have commitment to workplace safely and quality workmanship
- Have a positive can-do attitude and be willing to learn, develop and retain their skills
- Be able to follow instructions and work well as part of a team
- Have completed Year 12 School Certificate or equivalent with good competency in maths (desirable)
- Have previously completed relevant pre-apprenticeship program (desirable)
- Have relevant work experience, hobbies or interests related to fabrication, welding, mechanics or metalwork
- Have a genuine desire to build a long-term career in the industry
In addition, you will:
- Hold a valid driver’s licence and have your own reliable vehicle
- Hold a Construction White Card or be willing to obtain one
- Have strong safety awareness
- Be able to pass a pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screen, and police check
- Be willing to undergo random drug and alcohol testing onsite
Desirable: Forklift, Dogging, or EWP licences
