Clinical Data Manager | Lead People, Data Strategy & eSource
Benefits
- Shape and lead a Clinical Data Management function, rather than simply maintain one
- Drive the transition to eSource and influence how clinical trial data is managed
- Lead and develop a team of Data Associates, with genuine responsibility for performance and accountability
- Gain senior visibility by driving data quality, KPIs and improvements across the organisation
About the Company
Join an established Sydney-based clinical research organisation delivering complex Oncology and Healthy Volunteer trials for pharmaceutical and biotechnology sponsors.
Based within a dedicated clinical trials facility in Randwick, you'll be surrounded by experienced clinical, nursing, pharmacy, laboratory and research professionals in an environment where quality is a priority and your contribution is genuinely valued.
About the Opportunity
Take ownership of the Clinical Data Management function across a diverse portfolio of clinical trials, setting the direction for data quality, team performance and continuous improvement.
This is not a traditional hands-on data coordination role. You'll lead a team of Data Associates and bring together Clinical Operations, Clinical Trial Assistants, research nurses and study coordinators to improve how clinical data is captured, managed and delivered.
What's needed is a leader who sees Data Management as a service to the whole business. You'll establish clear expectations, set KPIs, develop your team and drive improvements that strengthen clinical trial quality and efficiency.
For an experienced Clinical Data Manager, it's an opportunity to step into broader functional leadership. For a Clinical Operations or Clinical Research Manager with solid data-quality experience, it's a chance to take ownership of a critical clinical research function.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading and developing the Data Associate team, setting individual goals, managing performance and driving accountability
- Taking ownership of clinical data quality, accuracy, completeness and timeliness across multiple studies
- Driving the implementation and ongoing optimisation of eSource systems and workflows
- Establishing KPIs, monitoring performance and reporting data quality outcomes to senior leadership
- Partnering with Clinical Operations, CTAs, research nurses and study coordinators to improve data processes and resolve issues
- Leading quality initiatives, process improvements, root cause analysis and CAPAs
- Supporting GCP compliance, data integrity, audit readiness and consistent data management standards
Why It's Worth It
- Genuine ownership: Shape the direction, standards and performance of an important clinical research function
- People leadership: Develop your team and build a culture of quality, accountability and continuous improvement
- Business-wide influence: Partner with multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders to drive better outcomes
- Meaningful transformation: Lead improvements to electronic data systems and processes that have a lasting impact on clinical trial delivery
What You'll Bring
- Strong experience in Clinical Data Management, Clinical Operations or clinical trial leadership, with a sound understanding of the clinical data lifecycle from source documentation through to database quality
- Demonstrated people-management experience, including coaching, staff development, setting performance objectives and driving accountability
- Broad, strategic thinking, with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and build practical plans to deliver change
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the confidence to influence multidisciplinary clinical teams
- Sound knowledge of GCP, clinical data integrity, quality standards and compliance requirements
- Experience with electronic clinical data systems or eSource implementation is advantageous
- Phase I, Healthy Volunteer or Oncology clinical trial experience is highly regarded
Culture
You'll join a collaborative, high-accountability clinical research environment where you're trusted to make decisions, challenge existing processes and lead from the front.
Based in Sydney Eastern Suburbs, you'll stay close to the clinical teams and studies your data supports, with the autonomy to influence how the function develops.
Ready to lead Data Management as a true business function?
If you're passionate about developing people, driving quality and improving how clinical trials are delivered, we'd love to hear from you.
