Reporting to the Senior Director, Communications and Engagement, the role is responsible for developing and delivering integrated communications and engagement strategies, creating high-quality content across multiple channels, and providing strategic advice and support for projects that matter to the Canberra community. The role works closely with executives, ministerial offices and stakeholders across government to ensure clear, consistent and effective communications.
We're looking for someone who:

- Thrives in collaborative team environments and is passionate about delivering meaningful outcomes for the community.
The role offers the opportunity to work on a range of high-profile infrastructure and city services projects, contribute to community engagement activities, and help shape how the Canberra community understands and experiences government services and initiatives.
We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.
Eligibility/Other Requirements:

- The successful applicant may need to be available for occasional weekend and after-hours work including being on an optional on-call roster.
- Visa holders are eligible to apply for both permanent and temporary roles. Those with eligible visas may be considered for permanent employment,
while individuals with temporary residency or limited-duration visas may be offered permanent employment for the duration of their visas.
Note: This is a temporary position available immediately until 4 February 2028, with the possibility of permanency.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
This position is located in a workplace designated for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
How to Apply: Please submit:
- a current curriculum vitae (maximum two pages); and
- a written response (maximum two pages) outlining how your skills, knowledge and experience align with the Selection Criteria.
Applications should be submitted via the Apply Now button below.
Note: Under the ACTPS employment framework you may be placed in another role where required for the productive administration of the service.
Where an offer of employment is for a fixed-term period, any related temporary contracts within the Territory will be issued in compliance with the requirements and applicable exceptions outlined in the Fair Work Act.
The ACT public service is committed to closing the gap, underpinned by the belief that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved.
