Life At Work are partnering with our valued client to source a capable and experienced Corporate Services Manager to assist the CEO in managing daily priorities, tasks and workflow.
For more than a century, this non-profit organisation has strengthened the voice of parents to ensure every child has access to high-quality public education.
It operates as a small, professional, and purpose-driven team working at the intersection of governance, service delivery and advocacy.
About the Role
The newly created role of Corporate Services Manager (0.6 FTE) is responsible for ensuring the business operates in a controlled, compliant and financially sustainable manner. The role is hands-on, with scope across finance, governance, compliance, risk, procurement and corporate systems, ensuring the organisation meets its legal, contractual and policy obligations.
Reporting to the CEO, the Corporate Services Manager establishes and maintains the operational disciplines that enable the organisation to function effectively. This includes ensuring financial controls are robust, compliance obligations are met, governance documentation is prepared, organisational policies remain current, contracts and insurance are appropriately managed, and systems and processes support consistent delivery.
Working in a small, high-performing team, this is a role for someone who is equally comfortable preparing a Board financial report, analysing budgets and funding scenarios, processing payroll, coordinating rosters, improving systems, supporting governance processes and stepping in to support the CEO when required.
This role is a 0.6 FTE worked as 45 hours over a fortnight. Typically 4.5 hours per weekday (plus extra hour per fortnight on pay run day), 9.30am to 2.30pm based from our East Perth office.
Options to work from home at management discretion after the initial settling in period.
This role is a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension. Occasional work outside of typical business hours may be required.
What you will do:
- Working with the CEO, you will implement and oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and expenditure control
- You will ensure accurate financial records and compliance and liaise with external vendors on any financial matters
- You'll provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making whilst also working towards long term sustainability
- You will also act as the key vendor liaison and contract manager
- You'll lead all payroll processing (e.g. Timesheet & leave processing, pay processing and adjustments, ATO requirements, banking) and onboarding new staff contracts into the HR system
- You’ll take ownership of staff rostering, ensuring the right people are scheduled at the right times to support smooth, efficient operations
- Be responsible for overseeing accounts payable and receivable and bank transactions and issuing invoices, including affiliation fees
- You will support the CEO with high-quality governance advice and reporting whilst preparing governance documentation, reports, briefing papers and submissions as required
- You'll ensure compliance with all legislative, regulatory and policy requirements relevant to a state-based peak body
- Maintain and oversee organisational risk management frameworks, including identification, mitigation and monitoring
- Overseeing day-to-day operations, you will ensure that systems, processes and workflows are efficient and effective
- You will lead reporting against operational plans, KPIs and deliverable outcomes and assist CEO in monitoring performance, evaluating outcomes and reporting
- Oversee planning and delivery of major events, training programs and member services
- In this role, you will ensure HR policies and practices align with best practice and organisational values
- You'll play a key role in identifying and recommending workforce structural and professional development opportunities to the CEO
- Youl will model leadership behaviours to ensure a positive, respectful, inclusive and high-performance culture
What You'll Bring
We are looking for someone with strong financial capability who enjoys being involved in both strategy and hands-on delivery. This role will suit someone who is detail‑driven, collaborative and motivated by supporting an organisation’s long‑term sustainability and impact.
- Demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting and organisational reporting
- Ideally a CPA, commerce or business degree
- Strong experience executing all aspects of payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Robust Excel and financial modelling skills, including scenario analysis and budget development
- The ability to translate financial information into practical advice for executive and board decision-making
- Experience working within governance, compliance and risk management frameworks
- Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach
- Experience with Xero, Employment Hero and not-for-profit organisations will be highly regarded.
