Liberty Community Connect is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Finance Manager to lead the organisation’s financial management, reporting and planning functions. Based on the Gold Coast and reporting within Operations, this permanent, full-time role will ensure sound financial governance while providing practical, strategic advice that supports sustainable growth and high-quality community outcomes.
The Finance Manager will oversee day-to-day financial operations, maintain robust financial controls and deliver accurate, timely information to support informed decision-making across the organisation. This role requires a hands-on leader who can balance operational detail with long-term financial strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the organisation’s financial management function, ensuring accurate accounting practices, strong controls and compliance with relevant legislation, standards and internal policies.
- Prepare and oversee monthly management accounts, financial reports, cash-flow forecasts, budgets and financial performance analysis.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, working closely with operational leaders to monitor expenditure, identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide high-quality financial advice,
commercial insight and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Manage the end-to-end financial planning and reporting cycle, including year-end processes, audit preparation and statutory reporting requirements.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensure accurate forecasting of cash requirements and maintain effective treasury, banking and payment processes.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets, contracts, funding arrangements and operational targets, identifying risks and opportunities proactively.
- Maintain and improve financial policies, procedures and systems to strengthen efficiency, accountability and financial governance.
- Coordinate external audits and work collaboratively with auditors, accountants, financial institutions and other professional advisers.
- Support funding acquittals, grant reporting and contract-related financial obligations where required.
- Lead, coach and support finance team members, fostering a collaborative, service-focused and high-performing team environment.
- Partner with the Operations department and wider organisation to improve financial capability and ensure financial considerations are embedded in operational decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting quality and enhance the use of financial systems and technology.
- Maintain confidentiality, integrity and professionalism when handling sensitive financial and organisational information.
The successful candidate will be a trusted financial partner who brings strong analytical capability, sound judgement and a commitment to supporting Liberty Community Connect’s mission through responsible and effective financial stewardship.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or a closely related discipline.
CPA or CA qualification, or nearing completion with substantial equivalent experience at Finance Manager or senior accounting level.
Demonstrated end-to-end financial management experience, including month-end close, management reporting, budgeting, cash flow, internal controls, audit and statutory compliance.
Strong capability in financial modelling, scenario planning, service costing, pricing and translating financial information into practical decisions.
Demonstrated ability to advise executives and governing bodies, challenge assumptions constructively and present complex information clearly.
Experience leading finance staff and managing the performance, scope and quality of outsourced finance providers.
Advanced Excel skills and strong working knowledge of Xero or a comparable accounting platform, with confidence working across integrated systems and data.
High professional integrity, attention to detail and judgement, with the ability to identify and escape material financial risk early.
Current driver licence and required police and worker screening clearances.
Experience in aged care, community services, disability or another regulated not-for-profit environment.
Knowledge of CHSP, Support at Home, NDIS and grant or acquittal-based funding arrangements.
Experience improving finance systems, reporting tools, data integration or workflow automation.
Working knowledge of payroll, FBT, salary packaging and employment-related financial controls.
