About the Role
We are looking for four casual Cave Guides to join Parks Victoria's team at Buchan.
As a Cave Guide, you'll help bring the Caves Reserve to life by providing visitors with accurate, informative and engaging interpretation of its unique features. Through sharing the stories, natural values and hidden wonders of the caves, you'll help visitors develop a greater understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of this special place.
You'll lead underground cave tours and contribute to a range of visitor and on-ground park management activities. Working as part of a collaborative team, you'll engage with visitors and stakeholders while helping deliver safe, high-quality experiences across the reserve.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, communicating engaging information and contributing to memorable experiences in an extraordinary natural setting.
About the Team
Based at the Buchan Office, you'll work as part of a team supporting the overall management of the Caves Reserve and delivering high-quality visitor experiences.
As part of the team, you'll:
- Lead underground cave tours and provide engaging interpretation for visitors.
- Share information about the significance, features and values of the park and caves.
- Contribute to visitor management and other on-ground park services and projects.
- Work safely and identify and manage risks associated with service delivery.
- Engage positively with community members, park users, volunteers and other stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively and adapt to changing operational requirements.
We're Looking for Someone With:
- Relevant knowledge and practical skills to support customer service and on-ground park management activities, such as visitor information, community engagement, environmental education or basic land management and maintenance.
- Experience delivering customer service or operational activities as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain information to people from different backgrounds.
- The ability to prepare clear written communications.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to a protected, respectful and inclusive team environment.
- Good judgement and initiative when responding to operational issues.
- The ability to work constructively with members of the public, volunteers and park users.
- Strong reliability, accountability and professionalism.
- A current Victorian Driver's Licence.
