Join our Parks Services team and play an important role in maintaining and enhancing the City's urban forest.
Reporting to the Tree Management Supervisor, you will undertake a wide range of urban forestry and horticultural activities including tree planting, establishment, pruning, tree maintenance, vegetation management and tree inspections. You will contribute to the management of the City's tree assets by collecting and maintaining asset data, assisting with tree risk assessments and operating a variety of horticultural and arboriculture plant and equipment.
This is a hands-on role for an experienced horticultural professional who is passionate about tree management, environmental sustainability and delivering high-quality outcomes for the community. The position also provides technical support and guidance to team members while contributing to the ongoing growth and resilience of the City's urban canopy.
To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria as part of your online application:
- Certificate III in Horticulture, Arboriculture, or equivalent experience
- Current MR Class Driver's Licence
- White Card and Basic Worksite Traffic Management Certificate
- Chainsaw Operator Certificate
- Demonstrated experience in tree planting, establishment and ongoing care
- Demonstrated experience in formative pruning of juvenile trees
- Practical knowledge and experience of tree species suited to Perth (WA) conditions
- Sound communication skills
- Strong commitment to safe work practices
This position offers a weekly wage of $1,488 (gross) which incorporates all allowances and penalty rates, as well as:
- 12% superannuation with the option to co-contribute up to a further 5%
