Lead a multidisciplinary mechanical and structural engineering team. Combine hands-on design with technical leadership and project coordination. Deliver industrial engineering projects across Australia. This role suits an experienced structural engineer who enjoys remaining involved in design while leading and developing a team. You will coordinate mechanical and structural engineering activities, oversee design quality and work closely with project delivery and fabrication teams to develop practical, buildable solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and coordinate a team of mechanical and structural engineers and designers
- Undertake and review structural analysis and design using SpaceGass and AutoCAD
- Oversee the design of industrial steel structures, equipment supports, platforms, walkways, access systems and associated infrastructure
- Coordinate mechanical and structural design interfaces, including equipment layouts, loading requirements and connections
- Review engineering calculations, drawings and documentation against applicable Australian Standards and project requirements
- Allocate workloads and monitor engineering progress to meet project deadlines
- Assist with engineering budget management, including estimating design hours,
tracking costs and identifying scope changes
- Liaise with project managers, suppliers and fabrication teams to resolve design and delivery issues
- Improve design processes, with a focus on safety, constructability, quality and cost efficiency
About you
- A degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline
- A strong foundation in structural analysis and design, particularly industrial structures and structural steel
- Proficiency in SpaceGass and AutoCAD
- The ability to lead an engineering team, provide technical guidance and coordinate competing priorities
- Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards
- Commercial awareness and the ability to support engineering budgets and resource planning
- Clear communication skills and a practical approach to problem-solving
- Experience within a fabrication or manufacturing setting is highly regarded but not essential
- Professional engineering registration, including RPEQ, or chartered status will also be highly regarded
