· To protect from cruelty animals of all species by every lawful means.

· To initiate and promote the passing of legislation protecting animals from cruelty.

· To ensure by lawful means the effective observance and enforcement of current legislation that protects animals.

· To promote, participate in and sanction animal welfare activities.

· To meet the requirements, privileges and obligations of the Animal Welfare Act (NT).

About RSPCA NT

The RSPCA is Australia’s pre-eminent animal welfare organisation. RSPCA NT’s vision is to continue to be the leading authority in animal care and protection. We provide a solid voice for all animals, using scientific evidence to inform and advocate for long term improvements to animal welfare through legislation, by-laws and advice.

RSPCA NT, a member of the federated national organisation, was established in 1965 and is an independent, locally-run charity. RSPCA NT relies almost entirely on self-funding with about 90% of our income coming from fundraising, donations and adoption fees. With the support of our wonderful community, all the funds raised remain with the animals of the Northern Territory. RSPCA NT cares for over 700 animals each year who come to us through no fault of their own, whether lost, abandoned, neglected or worse.

RSPCA NT operates on a well-maintained five-acre site in Berrimah, leased in perpetuity from the Northern Territory Government. RSPCA NT employs around 15 staff members via full, part time and casual arrangements. The organisation is led by our very capable CEO. The workplace is complemented by a large volunteer base who contribute approximately 8,000 hours per year. RSPCA NT cares for predominantly puppies, dogs, kittens, cats and occasionally other animals such as pigs, ducks, chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs.
