RAS Training & Services is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 46268) based in the Hunter Valley, NSW, specialising in nationally recognised training for the earthmoving, civil construction, mining and roadworks industries.

We are seeking an experienced, motivated and safety-focused Trainer & Assessor to join our team. This role is ideal for an experienced machinery operator who enjoys sharing their knowledge, developing people's skills and helping students gain the confidence and competence to work safely in industry.

You will deliver engaging, practical, hands-on training and assessment to a diverse range of students, from beginners entering the industry to experienced operators looking to upskill.

About the Role

Working with our training team, you will be responsible for delivering quality training and conducting competency-based assessments in accordance with the relevant training package requirements, RAS Training & Services procedures and applicable regulatory standards.

Training areas include:

- Earthmoving machinery: Excavators, skid steer loaders, graders, wheeled front-end loaders, dozers, articulated haul trucks, water carts, rollers/compactors, backhoes, and loading and unloading plant.

- Specialist equipment: Forklift trucks and side-by-side utility vehicles.

- Workplace safety: Enter and work in confined spaces, and work safely at heights.

- First aid: Provide First Aid and Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Training allocations will depend on your current qualifications, industry experience and units of competency held.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Delivering engaging theoretical and practical training.

- Demonstrating safe operating techniques, pre-start inspections,



hazard identification and risk management.

- Assessing students against the applicable units of competency and assessment requirements.

- Maintaining accurate, timely and compliant assessment records and student documentation.

- Providing constructive feedback and supporting students with different levels of experience and learning needs.

- Maintaining a safe training environment, equipment and training areas.

- Following RTO policies, procedures, quality assurance processes and applicable workplace health and safety requirements.

- Representing RAS Training & Services professionally when working with students and clients.

Must-have requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

- Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

- Demonstrated experience delivering nationally recognised training and assessment within a Registered Training Organisation to both novice and experienced operators.

- Demonstrated extensive hands-on experience across multiple types of earthmoving machinery, ideally with a strong background in civil construction, mining or roadworks.

- A strong understanding and experience with online learning platforms, digital assessment tools and electronic student management systems (aXcelerate).

- Knowledge of the current Standards for RTOs, assessment evidence requirements,



validation and continuous improvement processes.

- A commitment to continuous improvement and a desire to enhance training outcomes for both individuals and the business.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with students of varying ages, backgrounds and experience levels.

- The ability to work independently and as part of a high performing team.

- A demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety, student welfare and professional conduct.

- Current relevant high-risk work licences, tickets or industry certifications, where applicable.

- Be an approved High Risk Work Place Assessor with SafeWork NSW.

- A current driver's licence and the ability to travel to training locations as required.

- A flexible approach to working hours, including availability for weekday, occasional weekend or client-specific training.
