The Women’s Group Coordinator will lead the development and ongoing coordination of a solid, representative and functional Women’s Group in Doomadgee.
The role will support local women to come together regularly, identify priorities, build leadership and have a stronger voice in decisions affecting women, families and the wider community. The Women’s Group will play an significant role within the Doomadgee Peace-Keeping Initiative and Gunawuna Jungai’s broader Justice Reinvestment work
A major focus of the role will be supporting the Women’s Group to develop a Doomadgee community-led family and domestic violence strategy. The Co-ordinator will work alongside the Women’s Group, service providers, academic experts, peak bodies and other relevant organisations to bring together local knowledge,
evidence and specialist expertise and supports, while ensuring the direction of the strategy remains grounded in the priorities and experience of Doomadgee women.
The role will work closely with Gunawuna Jungai members and staff, the Peace-Keeping Coordinator (a parallel position focussing specifically on the peacekeeping work and structures), Local Community Coordinator and the Justice Reinvestment Steering Committee to ensure the Women’s Group is connected to the wider justice and community-led work occurring in Doomadgee.
Pay: $57,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
