St John of God Geelong Hospital is offering an exciting opportunity for Registered Nurses with at least two years' recent acute medical or surgical nursing experience to undertake postgraduate study while gaining valuable clinical experience across Intensive Care, Coronary Care and Emergency Department settings.In collaboration with Deakin University, the program provides the opportunity to undertake a Critical Care Post Graduate Course while working in a 12-month fixed-term, part-time position working 30 hours per week.Depending on your area of interest and clinical placement, you will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge, skills and confidence caring for patients requiring specialist and complex care, supported by experienced Clinical Educators and Senior Critical Care Nurses.What the program offersPost Graduate Course with opportunities across Intensive Care, Coronary Care and Emergency Department12-month fixed-term, part-time position, working 60 hours per fortnightCommencement from January or February ****, depending on the streamPostgraduate study delivered in collaboration with Deakin UniversitySupported clinical experience within a specialist critical care environmentGuidance and support from experienced Clinical Educators and Senior NursesOnsite competency assessmentsInteractive online tutorials and workshopsSelf-directed learning and assessmentsOpportunities for ongoing professional development and continued employmentThe opportunity to further develop your clinical knowledge, skills and confidence caring for critically unwell and acutely unwell patientsA solid foundation for a future career in ICU, CCU or ED nursing The PositionAs a Registered Nurse within our critical and acute care services, you will provide high-quality,
patient-centred care while developing your specialist clinical knowledge and skills.You will:Provide direct patient care to achieve identified outcomes in accordance with established hospital policies, procedures and Care Paths.Assist and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of patient care.Develop your clinical knowledge and skills in the management of critically and acutely unwell patients.Communicate effectively with patients, families and members of the multidisciplinary team.Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in a patient's clinical condition.Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for your own nursing practice in accordance with relevant legislation, professional standards and organisational policies.Maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, medical staff and colleagues.Contribute to a positive, supportive and collaborative team environment.Participate in education, competency assessments and professional development activities associated with the postgraduate course.About youTo be successful in this opportunity, you will have:Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.Applicants should be Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of acute medical/surgical experience (ICU, HDU, or emergency experience is advantageous), alongside solid communication skills and commitment to evidence-based practice.
A strong interest in developing a career within Intensive Care, Coronary Care or Emergency Department.Previous experience in ICU, HDU, ED or coronary care will be highly regarded.Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.A demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.A commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.The ability to identify,
assess and respond to clinical problems effectively.

The Benefits:A 12-month structured transition with dedicated clinical support, onsite competency assessments, and pathways for professional development and continued employment.
