We are proud of our welcoming community, our focus on supporting the wellbeing of our students, and the positive culture we foster among students and staff.We are an inclusive school and welcome applications from suitably qualified nurses who are passionate about supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people.We are currently seeking a compassionate, organised and experienced School Nurse to join our College health and wellbeing team.About the RoleAs a School Nurse at ICOM, you will play an key role in supporting the day-to-day health, safety and wellbeing needs of our students.Reporting to the Senior Nurse, you will provide timely and professional nursing care to students who become unwell, are injured or require health support during the school day.
You will assist with first aid, medication administration, health management plans, accurate health records and communication with parents/carers and relevant College staff.Working collaboratively with the Senior Nurse and wider College team, you will help ensure that student health needs are managed safely, professionally and with compassion.Key responsibilities will include:Providing first aid and nursing care to students who are injured or unwellSupporting the Senior Nurse in the day-to-day operation of the College health serviceAdministering medications in accordance with College procedures and relevant requirementsAssisting with the management and implementation of individual student health plansSupporting students with allergies, asthma, anaphylaxis,
diabetes and other health needsMaintaining accurate, confidential and up-to-date student health and treatment recordsMonitoring and maintaining first aid supplies and equipmentCommunicating appropriately with parents/carers regarding student health concernsLiaising with teachers, leadership and other relevant staff to support student health and wellbeingAssisting with health and first aid requirements for excursions, camps, activities and College events as requiredResponding calmly and appropriately to medical incidents and emergenciesSupporting health promotion and preventative health initiatives across the CollegeMaintaining student privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all timesWe are looking for a nurse who:Is caring, approachable and confident working with children and young people from Foundation to Year 12Demonstrates sound clinical judgement and can respond calmly to illness, injury and medical emergenciesHas excellent communication and interpersonal skillsIs highly organised and maintains accurate documentationUnderstands the importance of confidentiality and professional boundariesCan work effectively under the direction of the Senior Nurse while also using initiative when requiredBuilds positive relationships with students, families and staffEnjoys working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary school environmentDemonstrates a genuine commitment to student health,
safety and wellbeingIs committed to the values and ethos of the CollegeQualifications & RequirementsRelevant nursing qualificationsCurrent Working with Children Check or eligibility to obtain oneCurrent First Aid and CPR qualificationsCurrent Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management training, or willingness to obtainExperience working with children or young people is highly regardedPrevious experience in a school, community, paediatric or primary healthcare setting would be advantageousA commitment to child safety and the values and ethos of the CollegeWhy Work at ICOM?
