Vietnamese Speaking - Disability Support Worker
At Leora Healthcare, our Support Workers bring light into people's everyday lives by supporting dignity, independence and choice.
We are looking for a compassionate, reliable and patient Disability Support Worker to provide high-quality, person-centred support to a client living in Glebe, NSW.
This role is particularly suited to someone with experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities, who can provide practical assistance while encouraging independence, confidence and participation in everyday activities.
Vietnamese-speaking candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide respectful and consistent support tailored to the client's individual needs, preferences and support plan.
Your responsibilities may include:
Supporting a client living with an intellectual disabilityProviding Domestic Assistance (DA) and support with household tasksAssisting with cleaning, tidying and maintaining a safe and comfortable home environmentSupporting community participation and access to community activitiesEncouraging social engagement and meaningful activitiesAssisting with meal preparation and simple cookingSupporting daily routines and developing independence in everyday activitiesProviding prompts and encouragement with daily living tasks where requiredFollowing individual support plans, risk assessments and care instructionsSupporting the client's choice, independence and participation in the communityObserving and reporting changes in the client's wellbeing or support needsMaintaining accurate and timely documentationBuilding a positive and trusting relationship through calm, consistent and respectful supportMaintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times
About You
You are a compassionate and dependable Support Worker who:
Is calm, patient and observantHas experience supporting people with intellectual disabilitiesIs confident assisting with household and daily living tasksEnjoys supporting clients to participate in their local communityIs comfortable with meal preparation and basic cookingHas robust communication and interpersonal skillsCan follow care plans, routines and instructions accuratelyIs comfortable working independently in a client's homeIs reliable and committed to providing consistent supportRespects individual choice, privacy, dignity and independenceHas a genuine passion for making a positive difference in someone's everyday lifeCan speak Vietnamese – highly desirable
To be considered for this position, you must have:
NDIS Worker Screening CheckWorking With Children Check (WWCC)Valid Australian Driver's LicenceOwn reliable vehicle – where required for the serviceFirst Aid and CPR CertificateCertificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, Aged Care or a relevant qualificationPrevious experience in disability support, aged care or a similar care environmentAbility to work in accordance with individual support plans and safety procedures
