CPR is a bipartisan public affairs consultancy working across media and issues management, strategic communications and government relations.CPR works on matters that require quick thinking and flexible individuals who can swiftly understand a client's challenge and come up with creative responses.
Often this includes an element of strategic media engagement.CPR solves complex problems for government, corporate and not-for-profit clients, bringing a thoughtful, intellectual and focused approach which achieves results.
We support clients to educate and inform stakeholders, influence perceptions and behaviours, attract policy funding and program support and build and protect reputations.About youTo be effective in this role you will have a proven track record successfully pitching to news outlets across online, print, TV, radio and other local and state (and occasionally national) media outlets.
With your strong media networks, exceptional writing, research and storytelling skills you will help lead CPR's media and public affairs practice.Your news nous should enable you to craft narratives that will generate interest and coverage, while your knowledge of newsrooms will enable you to pitch the right story to the right reporter the right way.Your collaborative approach to working with colleagues and clients and a desire to do good work with – and for – good people should extend to maintaining relationships with key reporters and rounds.You should have 5-8 years of media and/or media engagement experience gained by working in the media and/or in a media relations role with government, inhouse or in a corporate or consulting setting.Ideally, you will have:contemporary relationships and networks across the media landscapeproven ability to pitch stories and secure coveragethe ability to think creatively,



strategically and proactivelyexperience working across multiple online and social platformsstrong writing and communication skills including drafting statements, media releases, social posts, talking points, etc.experience engaging with a diverse mix of media outletsa proven track record responding to media inquiries, interview requests, etc.a focus on accuracy and discretion at all timesan interest in the world and be creative and curiousthe ability to grow, learn and collaborate with colleaguesrespect for deadlines, discretion and possesseffective organisational and time management skills.The roleNo two days are the same and during the course of the week you are likely to:design and deliver media pitches, responses and strategies on behalf of clientsdevelop content from media releases, talking points, opinion pieces, blogs and other communications materials on behalf of clientsinteract effectively with clients, journalists and media organisations as requiredmaintain client LinkedIn profiles and other online platformsdevelop and implement effective engagement strategies and work with a variety of clients on a broad range of issuesprepare reports, submissions and proposals as requiredassist in new business generation through tenders, proposals, networking and other initiatives.What we offer4-5 days a week employment (7.5 hour days)experience working on a range of high profile and challenging accounts across sectorsa collegiate and collaborative working environmentopportunities to work from home on a set day/s of the weeka competitive salary package and potential for annual salary increasesa bespoke mentoring programa structured pathway for advancement and career development$90 per month reimbursement for phone expensesoption for salary sacrifice arrangements (on agreement)a range of social team building and networking events during the year.Employment arrangementsBased in our Melbourne CBD office, all employment conditions, such as sick/personal leave, annual leave are detailed in the contract.
A market-competitive salary package in the range of $130,000 – $150,000 + superannuation is being offered.
