We are looking for physically capable, confident and compassionate support workers who can build warm relationships with the residents while supporting them to develop independence and pursue their interests.About the roleThe role includes:Supporting residents with daily living, personal care and community accessDeveloping independence and working towards individual goalsMeal preparation, driving/transportation and household routinesMaintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with families and the support teamFulfilling overnight shifts as requiredThis position requires experience supporting people with high intensity support needs and complex behaviours of concern,including behaviours that may pose a risk of harm to themselves, others or property.You'll work as part of a collaborative team implementing a comprehensive Behaviour Support Plan with clear proactive and reactive strategies.About youWe are particularly seeking someone who is capable and confident in supporting strong young men with intellectual disabilities and complex behaviours,
while helping them participate actively and positively in the community.You will ideally have:Minimum 2+ years' experience supporting people with autism and complex behaviours of concernA genuine commitment to person-centred support and upholding the dignity of residentsConfidence working independently, strong communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively as part of a teamA commitment to developing residents' independence and quality of lifeReliability, flexibility and a willingness to receive feedback and undertake ongoing trainingExperience using de-escalation strategies and remaining calm during high-intensity incidentsA patient, positive and non-judgemental approach, building trusting relationshipsThe physical capacity to respond safely when challenging behaviours occurA willingness to support the Christian ethos and vision of Emet HouseCurrent NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)Current First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain)NSW Driver's License and insured vehiclePhysical capacity to respond safely during behavioural incidentsAvailability for weekend and overnight shifts, among othersExperience in the disability sectorA qualification in disability or a related field is desirable but not essential.ShiftsEmet House operates24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
