Philanthropy Manager - National Breast Cancer FoundationPlay a key role in growing a major gifts program, build high-value donor relationships and secure significant philanthropic investment to support world-class breast cancer research and NBCF's vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.Build and grow a major gifts portfolio across VIC, SA and TAS, with significant opportunity to develop new prospects and unlock existing philanthropic potentialLead high-value donor relationships and six-figure fundraising conversations across individuals, families, giving circles and private foundationsFull-time | Sydney or Melbourne location | Hybrid working | Occasional interstate travelImpact of the organisationThe National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australia's leading not-for-profit organisation funding world-class breast cancer research towards its vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.Since NBCF's inception in ****, it has invested more than $200 million into over 600 world-class research projects across Australia, supporting research that aims to improve the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer.NBCF is now focused on continuing to build the philanthropic support needed to fund innovative research and accelerate progress towards its vision.Philanthropy is central to this work, providing the opportunity for individuals, families and foundations to make a meaningful contribution to the future of breast cancer research.Impact you will have in this roleThe Philanthropy Manager is a pivotal role within NBCF's Philanthropy team, with a clear focus on growth.Reporting to the General Manager, Philanthropy and Partnerships, you will manage and develop a portfolio of high-value supporters across Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, including high-net-worth individuals, families, giving circles and private foundations.You will have significant scope to build the pipeline,
identify recent prospects and grow philanthropic income.
This includes re-engaging dormant high-value prospects, transitioning mid-value donors into major giving and developing new relationships with supporters who have the capacity and inclination to make a significant contribution.You will take ownership of your pipeline and fundraising activity, developing tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies, building strong donor relationships and confidently making six-figure asks.Working collaboratively across Philanthropy, Individual Giving, Research and Marketing, you will connect donors with compelling opportunities to support NBCF's research priorities and demonstrate the impact of their giving.This is an opportunity for a major gifts fundraiser who enjoys building relationships, finding opportunity and turning philanthropic potential into meaningful support.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and grow a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors across Victoria, South Australia and TasmaniaIdentify new prospects, networks and opportunities across VIC, SA and TAS to grow the high-value portfolioResearch and qualify prospects based on capacity, commitment and inclination to giveRe-engage dormant high-value prospects and identify opportunities to transition mid-value donors into major givingDevelop and execute personalised cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategiesDevelop compelling donor proposals,
impact reports and other tailored materials to support solicitation and stewardshipBuild and maintain strong relationships with high-net-worth individuals, families, giving circles and private foundationsOrganise small donor engagement events, meetings and experiencesCollaborate with Individual Giving and other internal teams to identify opportunities for cross-promotion and donor upgradesTrack and monitor portfolio income and pipeline activity, supporting budgets and quarterly reforecastsProvide regular reporting and insights to the General Manager, Philanthropy and PartnershipsMonitor philanthropic trends and donor insights to identify opportunities to enhance portfolio incomeSkills and ExperienceExperience in major gift fundraising, with a proven ability to acquire new supporters, develop relationships and secure significant giftsA track record of managing donor portfolios and achieving financial targets, including securing 5, 6 or 7 figure donationsConfidence making the ask and developing tailored strategies to move prospects through the fundraising cycleStrong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to engage a broad range of high-value supportersDemonstrated ability to identify and develop new fundraising opportunities and grow a pipelineExperience developing compelling funding proposals and articulating meaningful impact opportunities for donorsExcellent written and verbal communication skills and a donor-centric approach, with strong listening and relationship management skillsGood organisation, time management and analytical skills, with a results-focused approachBe willing and able to travel interstate periodically as requiredExperience within medical research, health, universities or a related environment would be highly regardedA genuine interest in supporting NBCF's research strategy and its vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer
