They offer a collaborative, technically focused environment with exposure to complex, large-scale projects.Role DetailsMy client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer – Secondary Systems to support the delivery of protection, control, automation, and communications design across HV and renewable energy projects.
You will be involved across the full project life cycle, from concept and design through to commissioning, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver concept and detailed secondary system designs, including studies and documentationLead and participate in design reviews across protection, control, automation, and communicationsSupport cross-disciplinary coordination, including HAZID, HAZOP, and safety-in-design activitiesRespond to RFIs and provide technical support to project stakeholdersContribute to tenders, feasibility studies, and technical investigationsAttend and support FAT, SCAT,



and commissioning activitiesCollaborate with stakeholders to deliver reliable and efficient secondary system solutionsAssist in developing and reviewing technical specifications and standardsCoordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of equipmentSupport site inspections, construction, and commissioning phasesDrive continuous improvement in design processes and engineering practicesSkills & Experience6+ years' experience in HV transmission, substations, or renewable infrastructure (Australian experience essential)Background working with a Network Service Provider (NSP) or EPC/contractor environmentStrong experience in protection & control design, including:Fault studies and protection coordinationLoad flow and insulation coordinationEarthing, lightning protection, and metering systemsRelay configuration and QoSMExperience with SCADA and automation systems, including:SCADA Functional Design Specifications (FDS)Proficiency in AutoCADExperience in testing and commissioning of secondary systems (highly regarded)Familiarity with SCADA protocols such as DNP3 and IEC *******Solid communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholdersWhy Apply?
