Our client is seeking an Assistant Accountant / Payroll Officer to join their finance team.This is an excellent prospect for an experienced payroll professional looking to broaden their accounting skills and progress into a more senior finance position over time.About the RoleReporting to the Finance Manager, you will initially take ownership of the payroll function for approximately 250 employees across weekly and monthly payroll cycles.
Key ResponsibilitiesPayrollProcess end-to-end weekly and monthly payroll for approximately 250 employeesInterpret and apply multiple Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs)Manage timesheets,
leave calculations and payroll adjustmentsProcess superannuation and payroll compliance requirementsEnsure payroll accuracy and legislative compliancePrepare payroll reconciliations and reportingAccountingGeneral ledger reconciliations and journal entriesBank reconciliationsAssist with month-end processesSupport project costing and job costing activitiesAssist with payroll reporting and financial analysisContribute to process improvement initiativesProvide support across broader finance functions as requiredAbout YouTo be successful, you will have:Proven experience processing end-to-end payrollExperience interpreting and applying EBAs within construction, manufacturing or similar industriesStrong understanding of payroll legislation, superannuation and compliance requirementsExposure to general accounting functions including reconciliations and general ledger workExperience with project costing or job costing is highly regardedExcellent attention to detail and problem-solving skillsA proactive attitude and genuine desire to grow into broader accounting responsibilitiesWhat's on Offer?
