About the Role
n
This role focuses on delivering high-quality literacy and numeracy tuition, with a strong emphasis on preparing students for the
NCEA Literacy and Numeracy Co-requisite Common Assessment Activities (CAA)
.
n
You will work closely with students, particularly at the
Year 9 and 10 level
, to build the essential skills required to meet national standards and successfully achieve their co-requisite qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Deliver structured, engaging lessons in literacy and/or numeracy.
n
Prepare students for NCEA Literacy and Numeracy Co-requisite Common Assessment Activities (CAA)
.
n
Apply targeted teaching strategies aligned with
Year 9-10 curriculum expectations
.
n
Use the Kip McGrath methodology to build student confidence, independence, and engagement.
n
Mark and provide clear, constructive feedback on all student work.
n
Adapt teaching programmes based on reassessment data and individual learning needs.
n
Build strong relationships with students and families.
n
Provide timely and transparent progress updates to parents and caregivers.
n
Maintain professional communication with centre managers and team members.
n
Uphold high qualified and child safety standards at all times.

Essential Requirements
n
n
Proven experience teaching Year 9 and/or Year 10 students, and/or demonstrated experience preparing students for NCEA Literacy and Numeracy Co-requisite Common Assessment Activities (CAA).
n
Strong understanding of the
New Zealand Curriculum and NCEA co-requisite standards
.
n
Demonstrated ability to teach literacy and/or numeracy effectively across a range of abilities.
n
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
n
Relevant teaching qualification.
n
Ability to meet the requirements of

n
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
n
Self-motivated, organised, and able to work collaboratively.
n
Availability to work
after-school hours and weekends
.
n
