THE OPPORTUNITY n

Due to an exciting pipeline of major automation projects, Dematic is seeking an experienced Site Safety Officer to join us on a 12 to 18 month fixed-term contract with the transition into a permanent role. In this position you will be supporting a significant automated warehousing and distribution centre project for a global FMCG client.
n
Based full-time on site in Tarneit, Melbourne , you'll play a pivotal role in driving safety excellence across a complex, multi-contractor environment while supporting the delivery of leading-edge automation technology.
n
This is an opportunity to be highly visible on site, influence safety culture, partner with key stakeholders, and ensure every person returns home safely each day.
n
Reporting to the Project Safety Manager, you will lead the day-to-day implementation of WHSE initiatives, working closely with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, Engineers, subcontractors and principal contractors to ensure best-practice safety standards are embedded throughout the project lifecycle.
n
You'll be hands‐on in the field, conducting inspections, audits,
inductions and investigations while proactively identifying risks and implementing practical safety solutions that support project success.
WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON n
n
Provide WHSE advisory support across all project activities
n
Championing and influencing a positive, proactive safety culture on site
n
Conduct site inspections, safety observations, audits and risk assessments
n
Facilitate site inductions, toolbox talks and pre-start meetings
n
Review and support Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), procedures and permits
n
Investigate incidents and support corrective and preventative actions
n
Assist in the implementation and ongoing improvement of the Site Safety Management Plan
n
Maintain safety reporting systems, hazard registers and risk registers.
n
Support the safe management and onboarding of subcontractors
n
Liaise with builders, principal contractors, client representatives and project stakeholders on WHSE matters
n
Participate in site safety committees and continuous improvement initiatives
n
Tasks and Qualifications: SETTING YOU UP FOR SUCCESS REQUIRES n
n
Degree or Diploma in Health & Safety, WHS, OHS or a related discipline
n
Minimum 5 years' experience in a site-based safety position
n
Experience working within construction, industrial, manufacturing, commercial projects, fit‐out or related environments
n
Exposure to large-scale projects involving multiple contractors and concurrent work fronts
n
Demonstrated experience conducting WHSE audits, inspections and incident investigations
n
Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management principles and safety management systems
n
Proven ability to influence safe behaviours and build accountability across diverse stakeholder g
