About the International Eucharistic Congress
Eucharist28 is a global event held by the Catholic Church that focuses on the celebration of the Eucharist.
Sydney has been named as the host of the next Congress which will be held in **** and the event is expected to draw tens of thousands of people from all over the world alongside hundreds of thousands of Australians.
The **** Congress marks the centenary of Australia's first International Eucharistic Congress, held in Sydney in ****.
Last hosted in Australia in ****, and celebrated every four years in a different location around the world, the Congress will once again place Sydney at the global focal point of the Catholic Church, with the ambition of renewing Christian life and to encourage participation in the life and mission of the Church.
The Archdiocese of Sydney, the coordinator of the Congress, is seeking an exceptional marketing professional with a deep commitment to the Church's mission to take up the challenge of delivering a successful event.
About the Role
Eucharist28 will place Sydney at the centre of a global Catholic gathering focused on faith, renewal and mission.
The Communications Lead will ensure the Congress is communicated with clarity, consistency and warmth, helping diverse audiences understand its significance and feel invited to participate.
Reporting to the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, you will own the communications plan and editorial program across social media, digital channels, publications, stakeholder updates and internal communications.




You will work in close partnership with the Campaign Marketing Manager and other teams to keep messages aligned with the Eucharist28 brand, campaign priorities, Catholic teaching and the evangelising purpose of the Congress.
Your portfolio will include content strategy, editorial calendars, executive and stakeholder communications, relationships with Catholic and community publications, and oversight of the Eucharist28 Influencer & Creator Collective.
You will also develop content for Congress Week, provide communications advice on sensitive matters and use audience feedback to refine future communications.
This is a temporary full-time opportunity through to October ****.
About You
You are an accomplished writer and communications practitioner who can turn complex information into accessible, engaging messages.
You bring editorial judgement, strong stakeholder instincts and the ability to maintain quality and consistency while working to demanding timelines.
Specifically, as the ideal candidate for this role, you will meet the following Key Requirements:
Demonstrated experience in communications, public relations, stakeholder engagement or corporate affairs, preferably within a complex organisation.
Proven experience developing and delivering communication plans across multiple channels and stakeholder groups.
Exceptional writing, editing and message development skills, with the ability to tailor communications for diverse audiences and platforms.
Experience managing communication projects and coordinating multiple priorities within tight timeframes.
Demonstrated ability to work within complex stakeholder environments and manage sensitive issues with professionalism and discretion.
Experience developing communication resources, executive correspondence,



presentations and briefing materials.
Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across internal teams, external partners and Catholic communities.
Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Media, Corporate Affairs or a related discipline.
Sound understanding of, or a genuine commitment to developing an understanding of, the mission, teachings and life of the Catholic Church.
In this role, success means that Eucharist28 is understood, trusted and spoken about with enthusiasm.
You will protect the integrity of its voice while creating communications that are timely, audience-aware and faithful to the mission of the Congress.
Applicants must have unrestricted work rights in Australia.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, and must have a current Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain.
