North Burnett Regional Council is seeking a
Community Development Stream Leader
to lead a dynamic, cross-functional team delivering programs and services that strengthen community connections, resilience and wellbeing across the region.
The role combines strategic leadership with operational delivery across a diverse portfolio, including
community development, library programs, major events, Community Grants, Sport and Recreation, the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) and the North Burnett Transport Service
.
Some initiatives may require out-of-hours commitments.
You will build robust partnerships with community leaders, organisations and government agencies, ensuring initiatives align with Council priorities and respond to local needs.
The role also contributes to
community resilience and disaster recovery
,
supporting the social, economic and human recovery of the North Burnett region.

Salary Range:
QLGIA (Stream A, Level 5-6) $84,****** – $93,****** + 12% Superannuation
Location:
Monto(other locations negotiable within the North Burnett Region)
Schedule:
72.5 hours per fortnight,
9-day fortnight
About you
You are an experienced and proactive leader with a passion for empowering communities and fostering meaningful connections.
Your expertise in community development, stakeholder engagement, and project management equips you to navigate the challenges of a regional environment with confidence and creativity.
You hold relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent expertise gained through substantial experience,



along with an IAP2 Certificate of Engagement (or the willingness to obtain this within a suitable timeframe).
An unrestricted 'C' class driver's licence and a current Positive Notice Blue Card are essential to your success in this role.
You have demonstrated experience in leading diverse teams, managing significant projects and events, and preparing high-quality strategies and reports.
Your strong communication and interpersonal skills enable you to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, while your analytical abilities ensure the delivery of impactful, community-focused outcomes.
With a proven ability to manage budgets, coordinate programs, and develop policies, you are also adept at fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and excellence.
Your commitment to customer service, attention to detail, and high-level computer skills round out your profile as a skilled and driven professional.
Key Responsibilities
Provide effective supervision and leadership of a dynamic cross-functional team with an emphasis on coaching to promote a high-performance culture, and model high safety standards and behaviors.
Provide high-quality customer service, advice and assistance to internal and external stakeholders with a focus on positive customer experiences in each functional area of the Community Development Stream.
Lead the coordination and oversight of Council's Community Grants Program and the Regional Arts Development Fund Program (RADF).
Provide specialist advice regarding community development practice, programs and initiatives to support community aspirations and corporate objectives.
Build and maintain solid networks, relationships and partnerships through consultation and engagement with community leaders, community organisations, non-government organisations and State and Federal government Departments




Lead community development initiatives through community capacity and resilience, wellbeing and inclusion, utilising contemporary community development approaches and practices.
Lead the delivery of Councils major events including Australia Day and Citizenship Ceremonies.
Contribute to Council's disaster management response and recovery capabilities including Human, Social and Economic recovery.
Develop, implement, manage and review policies, procedures and support systems, ensuring that all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and standards are met.
Manage the Community Development Stream expenditure budget and associated costs and contribute to the development of the areas budget each financial year.
Prepare high-quality plans, reports or strategies relevant to the Community Development Stream.
