About the Role
Start your social work career with a supportive and experienced team at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne (SVHM).
An exciting opportunity is available for a Recent Graduate Social Worker to join our Social Work Department, working across acute and subacute inpatient services at our Fitzroy campus.
Designed specifically for social workers at the beginning of their career, this position offers a structured New Graduate framework to support your transition into professional practice.
You will receive regular supervision, clinical education and professional development while building your confidence and capability within a leading tertiary health service.
Working as part of multidisciplinary teams, you will support patients and their families through complex health and psychosocial circumstances and contribute to safe, person-centred care and discharge planning.
Undertaking comprehensive psychosocial assessments and applying clinical reasoning to develop appropriate intervention and discharge plans
Providing social work interventions to patients experiencing a range of health, social and psychosocial needs
Working collaboratively with patients, families and carers to support treatment, care planning and discharge
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and community services to coordinate appropriate supports
Developing positive working relationships across the Social Work Department, broader hospital and external community services
Participating in regular clinical supervision and education as part of the New Graduate framework
Contributing to quality improvement, research and service development activities
Building your clinical knowledge and professional skills within a supportive learning environment
Classification: Social Worker Grade 1, SC13 ($74,172 per annum).
Your Contribution
To be successful, you will have:
A Bachelor of Social Work or qualifying Master of Social Work, with graduation within the last 12 months
Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
Completed a hospital-based Social Work placement, with experience in an inpatient care setting
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
An ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
A commitment to person-centred, compassionate and evidence-based practice
Enthusiasm for ongoing learning, supervision and professional development
A current National Criminal History Check, or willingness to obtain one
A current Working with Children Check (desirable)
