Water Treatment Plant Operator
Based in Corowa, but will work across the Federation Council area
The opportunity
Federation Council is seeking a dedicated and reliable Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our Engineering Services team.
In this essential role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining Council's water treatment plants, water supply reservoirs, and water pumping stations to ensure the delivery of high-quality drinking water to our local communities.
You will also assist with the ongoing maintenance and repair of the broader water and sewerage reticulation systems.
In this role you will, but not limited to;
Monitor, operate, maintain, and repair water treatment plants, reservoirs, and pumping stations in compliance with Council standards and regulations.
Undertake required operational testing and maintain detailed records in line with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG) and regulators (NSW Health & Environment Department).
Maintain facility cleanliness, site security, and assist with water/sewerage reticulation repairs as directed by the Utilities Coordinator.
Adhere strictly to Work Health & Safety (WHS) protocols, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and correct usage of PPE.
Participate in the Council's rotational on-call roster and scheduled overtime to respond to after-hours, weekend, and public holiday operational needs.
Essential key criteria to be addressed in applications;
Certificate III in Water Industry Treatment (Drinking Water) or equivalent qualification.
Current Class C Driver's Licence.
Construction Induction Card (White Card).
Confined Spaces Entry Accreditation.
NSW Fluoridation of Public Water Supplies accreditation (or the ability to obtain it during the probation period).
Demonstrated knowledge of water treatment plant operations, maintenance, and WHS practices.
Proven initiative in problem-solving, process improvement, and effective communication.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council's policies and conditions of employment.
The salary is commencing at $***** per hour with progression up to $***** per hour dependent upon skills and experience.
