About the role n
Based in Melbourne, this role will drive elite athlete wellbeing and performance as the National Tennis Centre Physician, delivering world-class medical care to Tennis Australia athletes and supporting Australia's national teams where required.
n
This is a 12-month contractor role, running from October **** to September ****.
n
The servicing requirement consists of 7 hours/week, comprising approximately 3-4 hours of on-site work delivered at the National Tennis Centre in Melbourne in addition to 2-3 hours of off-site services covering such items as phone calls, emails, medical advice for tournament physiotherapists and the updating of medical records on AMS.

In this role you will:
n
n
Conduct medical screenings for current scholarship athletes, upload results to the Athlete Management System (AMS) and oversee any required follow‐up.
n
Provide timely onsite and telehealth medical consultations, including injury/illness management, treatment, and appropriate specialist referrals.
n
Maintain accurate, up‐to‐date medical records in AMS and communicate relevant athlete health information to coaches, support staff and family members, where appropriate.
n
Offer ongoing ancillary support including; travel health advice, oversight of tour-related medical screens, and on‐call medical guidance for tournament physiotherapists.
n
Participate in meetings, workshops, and athlete/parent education sessions, including delivering information on anti‐doping obligations and maintaining up‐to‐date knowledge of amendments to the Anti-doping Code.
n
Build strong working relationships with National Tennis Centre staff, athletes, parents, and wider Tennis Australia stakeholders while providing flexible weekly service hours based on program needs.

About you n
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
n
n
Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent.
n
Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
n
At least five (5) years of relevant experience post undergraduate qualifications.
n
Worked as a team physician &/or in high performance sport.
n
Experience working with tennis athletes including athletes with a disability.
n
Demonstrated major apportionment of working week to sports medicine.
n
Fellowship of Australasian College of Sport & Exercise Physicians.
n
Medical Professional Indemnity Insurance along with Public Liability Insurance ($10million minimum) which remain current throughout any contract period at Tennis Australia.
n
Current ABN which will be your responsibility to maintain throughout length of this and any future TA contract.

Current
Police Check
and
Working with Children Check
(or relevant State equivalent).

Preparedness to be flexible with regard to working hours and arrangements relating to work associated with Tennis Australia.
