About the Role
As Team Leader in Aged Mental Health, you will play a key role in leading a passionate multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, recovery-focused mental health care for older adults.
You will combine strong clinical leadership with people leadership, supporting your team to thrive while building collaborative partnerships across health services, aged care and the broader community.
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to consumers and their carers by promoting independence, wellbeing, continuity of care and positive outcomes across the mental health and aged care continuum.
Provide inspiring day-to-day leadership, clinical guidance and mentoring to a multidisciplinary team, fostering a supportive, collaborative and high-performing team culture.
Oversee the delivery of person-centred clinical care, including psychiatric assessment, triage, crisis response, case management, medication monitoring and risk assessment.
Promote excellence in clinical practice, supporting staff to deliver evidence-based, recovery-oriented care in line with professional standards, legislation and service requirements.
Lead effective caseload management, clinical review, workload allocation and service reporting, ensuring the team delivers responsive and equitable services.
Build strong relationships and partnerships across inpatient and community mental health services, emergency services, aged care, residential services and community agencies to ensure seamless continuity of care.
Champion quality improvement, service development and innovation, while supporting staff supervision, professional development and the growth of the future workforce.
Provide clinical consultation, education and support to colleagues and external stakeholders, facilitate team and service meetings, and contribute to broader program leadership when required.
Your Contribution
A relevant Bachelor Degree or equivalent, with current AHPRA registration or eligibility for AASW membership.
A postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing required for Nurses
Minimum five years' post-graduate experience, including experience in aged mental health and community care
Demonstrated clinical leadership and experience leading multidisciplinary teams, with strong skills in communication, collaboration, problem-solving and conflict resolution
Sound knowledge of Victorian mental health legislation and relevant clinical, statutory and regulatory requirements
A strong commitment to recovery-oriented, person-centred care, continuous quality improvement and ongoing professional development
Strong organisational, written and digital communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and support service improvement
A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History check, or willing to obtain
Classifications
Classifications for this position will range from:
Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 5 NP51 ($140,925 per annum pro rata)
Occupational Therapist Grade 5/Social Worker Grade 5 AJ11 - AJ14 / AJ57 - AJ60 ($133,754 - $147,394 per annum pro rata)
Psychologist Grade 4 PM1 - PM5 ($123,302 - $148,309 per annum pro rata)
You may therefore be required to undergo mandatory immunisations/vaccination.

About the Older Adult Mental Health Team
Based at St. George's campus in Kew, our friendly, cooperative multi-disciplinary teams include the Residential Support Program (RSP), Normanby House, Healthy Ageing Service (HAS), Aged Psychiatry Assessment and Treatment Team (APATT) and Older Personals Autism Liaison Service (OPALs) colleagues and our Consultation‐Liaison Team.
We work closely with Geriatric Medicine colleagues and aged community teams at St. George's.
